Reach Scholars Foundation Facts
  • At present, there are 26 Reach Scholars each with a 4-year renewable scholarship. (Award values vary from $1000 to $5000 per year). 
  • First Reach Scholar graduated college in 2009 from the University of WA. To date, Reach Scholarship recipients have a 100% college graduation rate. 
  • Reach Scholars are studying at Amherst College, Dartmouth College, Georgetown, Morehouse College, Seattle University, St. John’s University, Notre Dame, Penn, Texas Christian University, University of San Francisco, Pacific Lutheran University, Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins University and University of Washington. 
  • ~ 50% of Reach Scholars attend the University of Washington. 
  • Students are studying business, engineering, computer science, economics, international relations, and various sciences. 
  • The Reach Scholarship program includes mentoring. Topics include: proactive study strategies and time management, course selection, field of study evaluation and selection, summer internship evaluation and selection, resume reviews, study abroad program selection, job search strategies, and interview skills. 
  • The Reach Scholars Foundation maintains positive working relationships with a variety of “beyond the classroom” programs in the Seattle area. We work with ACE Mentor Program, College Access Now, DECA, Global Visionaries, Making Connections, MESA, NELA, Rainier Scholars, Upward Bound, YMCA Black Achievers, and Young Executives of Color (YEOC). 
  • Reach Scholarships are marketed through the programs mentioned above plus the Seattle area public and private high schools. Reach Scholars information can also be found on www.washboard.org and at www.reachscholars.org
